Only four teams remain in ‘The Amazing Race 17.’
Chad and Stephanie overslept during the last episode of ‘The Amazing Race’ and could never seem to get caught up. They were the last team to the Pit Stop at Lalbagh Fort in Bangladesh and were eliminated fro the race.
The teams remaining in ‘The Amazing Race 17’ include: Jill and Thomas, Brook and Claire, Nick and Vicki, and Nat and Kat.
Early on I would have given the doctors, Nat and Kat, the best shot at winning the race, but their efforts in recent weeks have pulled up short. Jill and Thomas and Nick and Vicki have not been leaders until recently, so maybe their luck is changing. Although they haven’t finished first Brook and Claire are one of the strongest, most consistent teams, and I believe, at this point, they are the team to beat.
‘The Amazing Race’ episode 10 – Recap
The last place we saw our competitors was at Lalbagh Fort in Bangladesh. On episode 10 of ‘The Amazing Race’ contestants were sent from Bangladesh to Hong Kong.
In Hong Kong they had to make their way by bus and ferry to Cheung Chau Islands to find their next clue. It sent them right back via ferry to Hong Kong to Majestic Chinese Restaurant. Once at the restaurant the teams were met with a Roadblock.
The Roadblock was to use chopsticks to find one of five items that were fake among all the Chinese food. Any real food they picked up they had to eat.
From the restaurant the teams went to find the Avenue of the Stars and find a statue of Bruce Lee. From there they were sent on a Detour. One Detour was “Ding Ding” the other was “sampan.”
For the “Ding Ding” challenge the teams had to ride a rail car known as a ding ding looking for a specific sign to find the location of their pit stop.
The sampan was a challenge in which a bird was picked up, taken on a sampan boat searching for a boat with matching registration number.
Following the detour the teams were sent to Statue Square where they found the Pit Stop.
How the teams competed on episode 10 of ‘The Amazing Race’ season 17 – Recap
Nat and Kat
Nat and Kat made easy work of the Roadblock and chose the sampan Detour challenge, looking for a specific registration number on a boat. It took them a while, during which time Jill and Thomas sailed in, found their matching registration number, and left ahead of Nat and Kat.
Jill and Thomas
Jill and Thomas got a head start and hoped to avoid any other teams at the airport, especially Brook and Claire who they u-turned last week. Unfortunately, the first team they ran into was Brook and Claire, who were civil, but obviously not happy.
Jill and Thomas ran ahead during most of the race, but were met with a challenge when they chose the “ding ding” detour. They couldn’t find the sign, so they switched detours, which they always do, and went to the sampan challenge. Amazingly, they found their matching registration almost immediately, while Nat and Kat continued to search.
Brook and Claire
Brook and Claire ran into Jill and Thomas at the airport in Bangladesh and didn’t hesitate to question why they had been the target of Jill and Thomas’s u-turn move during the last leg of the race. Thomas told them they were the toughest competitors, which Brook and Claire thought was a bunch of bunk because the doctors have finished first more often. However, Brook and Claire have been more consistent, near the top finishers more often than anyone.
Brook and Claire got sidelined at the Roadblock when Claire couldn’t identify the fake food. She ate so much she threw up, and they stayed there so long that Nick and Vicki caught up with them.
Nick and Vicki
Nick’s temper was racing hot before the race was well underway. They were the only team to miss the first ferry to Cheung Chau Island. Nick blamed it on Vicki, who took the blame but had no trouble arguing back about his nit-picking.
Nick and Vicki ran behind the pack until they got to Majestic Chinese Restaurant. Brook and Claire were still there, and while Vicki found the job disgusting, Nick found it humorous that Claire ate so much that she threw up.
It wasn’t quite so funny when Vicki started throwing up. Nick suggested they quit the Roadblock and take a penalty, but Vicki refused to quit.
Nick was so mentally and physically exhausted that he gave up. He literally lad down in their boat. It was very hard on Vicki because she did not want to quit.
Winner of episode 10, of ‘The Amazing Race 17.’
1st place – Nat and Kat
2nd place – Jill and Thomas
3rd place – Brook and Claire
4th place and last place for this leg of the race was Nick and Vicki. At 4am they gave up on the Detour. This was a non-elimination leg, so the team stayed in the race. They will start with a 6 hour delay during the next leg of the race and face a special Roadblock challenge.
