Family vacations can be very overwhelming at times. It’s always a good idea to keep your cool when hanging around with your family. Here are the 10 worst things about family vacations that come to mind for me.
1. Space is limited
Usually when you are on family vacations your family thinks that a place with 3 bedrooms is substantial for 10 people. Most family vacations can make you feel very cramped. A lot of times you may have to share a room with someone in your family you don’t necessarily want to. Bathrooms are limited. Overall, you just feel overwhelmed and cramped.
2. Eating out is expensive
Big family vacations means big food bills. Vacations usually include eating great and sometimes slightly expensive food. If you have more than 2-4 people on the vacation, food bills will automatically call for over $100 out of your pocket. I highly recommend buying groceries over eating out if you have a large family aboard.
A lot of times when the family gets together, fights may occur. Whether if it’s the kids fighting over toys, or the adults fighting over who pays for what. Everybody needs to learn to stay calm so they don’t ruin the whole trip.
4. Time Flies By
Many of us have gone on vacation and it didn’t even feel like we had a vacation. Family vacations can fly by without the chance to get the quality time you were supposed to get together.
5. Kids Would Rather Be Home
A lot of times kids feel forced on these vacations and tend to hate them more than the adults do. Most young kids want to be at home hanging out with there friends instead of on a vacation with their family.
A lot of times, you may feel uncomfortable around your family. You all have grown up in a different time and may not be into the same things as the others. Sometimes you don’t know exactly what to talk about with them, so you let them do all the talking.
7. Getting Sick
Some form of sickness may occur on family trips. Whether it’s due to food poisoning or not, this shouldn’t hold everyone else back from enjoying their trip. It’s not good for everyone to surround the sickness which may spread to everybody else in the household.
8. Cost of Activities
Exciting activities may cause a fortune on family vacations. It’s best to look into the cost of cool activities before going on a trip. Look into fun, free things to do to avoid spending your whole bank account.
9. Disagree on what to do
The kids want to go rent wave runners, while the parents want to take a hike. Disagreements on what activities to do can be very frustrating on vacations. Come to some kind of agreement to accomplish what everybody wants to get out of the trip. It’s best to plan ahead on what you will be doing each day.
10. Hard to Relax
Parents may sometimes find it very hard to relax on vacation. The kids are running around screaming, they are emptying their pockets, everyone disagrees on something… whatever the reason for not being able to relax is, still try and find ways to get away from the chaos to at least enjoy your vacation a little bit.
There are so many reasons why family vacations may not always be what they are cracked up to be. Try spending as much quality time with each other as possible before the stress really starts to kick in.
