Have you ever wanted to buy on EBAY but are you too scared? You probably hear many horror stories of people sending their money and not getting an item in return. EBAY is actually a pretty safe place, especially if you know how to use it. Here are a few tip to help buyers have a pleasant EBAY experience:
.) Check the sellers feedback score – Buyers and sellers all have feedback scores from other buyers and sellers on EBAY. Check the feedback and see if there is any negative feedback, see what the feedback was, and if it was legit. Usually a good EBAYer should have a score in the upper 90’s (ie 99% positive rating).
.) Check how much feedback a seller has gotten – If it’s a new seller then you might have your guard up. It maybe a legit buyer, but you never know. If it’s an expensive item, then I advise you to not even take the risk.
.) Check to see what a seller has sold and who they have sold it to – Even if their score looks good and their feedback is good, does not necessarily mean that they are legit. Check to see if the seller sold many lower priced items recently and check who bought them. Was it the same person? If something seems fishy, then it probably is.
.) How long have they been on EBAY – If they have only been on EBAY a couple of weeks, then it could be a shady deal.
.) Use PayPal – PayPal allows buyers and sellers to exchange money on a safe and secure platform. If a deal goes wrong then PayPal will give the money back to the buyer dependant on the circumstance.
.) Check shipping charges – Just make sure that the shipping charges for the item are NOT over the top. Some sellers will increase the shipping charges to avoid EBAY expenses.
.) Check location of item – If the location of the item is overseas then you should be very cautious. It’s more difficult to get issues resolved if it occurred off American soil.
.) Read the fine print – Just make sure you read what you are getting.
.) Communicate the seller – If you have questions, and then just ask the seller. If they don’t answer your questions or seem shady, then you might want to pass.
.) Use insurance? – When having your item ship upon purchase then you might want to pay for insurance. It’s an additional cost, so probably not needed for less expensive items.
.) Get a tracking # – Be able to track your shipped item with a tracking #. Could be an additional cost, so see if it’s worth it.
