MUNI is serious about cracking down and making sure that people are following the rules. In the first half of October, more than 125 police calls were made in Dogpatch related to the MUNI inspection program. These happen when police patrol MUNI and hand out tickets to people who are breaking the rules. In most cases, this occurs when MUNI riders don’t have a transfer or a Fast Pass to prove that they paid to get on the bus.
Most calls were made for Indiana Street at Tubbs Street and 20th Street at Indiana. The 1100 Block of Indiana and 3rd Street and Indiana were other common areas where MUNI citations were issued.
The moral of the story? Don’t try to get on the back of the bus, and keep your transfer or Fast Pass handy to avoid an expensive ticket.
