Looking for a twist on pies or tarts for Thanksgiving? Looking for a different pie or tart for Thanksgiving? The twenty pies and tarts below can give you an idea for a different dessert for your Thanksgiving dinner.
Cranberry Chocolate Nut Pie
I saw a picture of a piece of the cranberry chocolate cut pie and it looked good. I would consider making this pie to see if it tastes as good as it looks and sounds. It uses white chocolate, walnuts and brandy-soaked cranberries. The center of the pie is the same as a pecan pie from what I can tell from the picture and the recipe.
Cherry Almond Tart
The cherry almond tart uses cherry preserves rather than the standard cherry pie filling. The almonds are added into the crust of the tart and sprinkled across the top of the lattice. If you’re looking for a different way to make a cherry pie, this may be the way to go.
Grape and Pear Pie
I’ve heard of grape pies before, but don’t recall ever tasting one. This pie has grapes and pears as the filling. The gape and cherry pie seems to be easier to make than a homemade apple pie after reading through the directions for making it.
Raisin Plum Pie
Rather than using the standard pie crust, the crust for the raisin plum pie is whole wheat. The filling for this pie is plums, raisins, currants, and cranberries. It didn’t say a name of a plum or color to use for this pie. It might be a tasty pie if you like tart pies.
Pear-Mace Rustic Tart
This pear-mace tart may be worth a try. It sounded similar to an apple tart I once made. You may have to go to a specialty or health food store to find the mace if it isn’t in the specialty spice section of your local grocery store.
Mile-High Caramel Apple Pie
For this version of a caramel apple pie, you will need four pounds of apples for the filling. There is oats baked into the crust of the pie. The caramel is drizzled over the top of the pie. Sounds like a pie worth baking to me.
Fresh Pear and Cranberry Pie
The fresh pear and cranberry pie is an open faced pie like a tart. It has a caramel sauce you can drizzle over the top. The recipe gives a choice of red and/or green pears to use in this pie.
Pumpkin Frangelico Pie With Mascarpone
The crust of this pumpkin pie has ground hazelnuts added to it. The hazelnut liqueur is added to the filling of the pumpkin and mascarpone filling. The pumpkin pie is topped with glazed hazelnuts. The glazed hazelnuts may be good by themselves.
Big, Bigger, Biggest Plum Pies
This plum pie has red plums and apricots as the filling for the pie. You will also need honey butter for the recipe.
One-Handed Fried Pies
This version of a fried pie has a dried apricot, peaches and apple filling. I sometimes make apple, chocolate, and cherry fried pies.
Here’s a version of the grape pie I mentioned earlier. This grape pie uses seven cups of grapes, brown sugar, sage and port wine. This should be a tasty grape pie.
The cranberry tarts will be tart with a touch of sweetness. They are made into individual tarts rather than a larger tart.
A twist on the standard cherry pie by adding cranberries for an extra push on the tartness.
Orchard Pear Tart
Rather than using apples in this tart, pears are used in a fanning shape as the center of the pie. If you’re looking for a simple and tasty tart, this could be used in place of the old standby apple tart.
Apple Bistro Tart
The apple bistro tart uses tart apples, caramel apple dip, pecans and apple jelly to make this tasty treat. The picture looked great. It is another pie I may have to give a shot at trying to make.
Dried Pear and Chocolate Caramel Tart
I haven’t seen dried pears around where I live, but I probably could find them at a specialty or health food store if I decided to give this tart a try. It sounds rather good and seems easy to make.
These tartlets use a pie crust cut into small pieces to fit into a small muffin pan. These tartlets would be a great snack to have on hand for the kids after school because they can grab one out of the fridge and pop it into their mouths without a mess.
When I first saw this pie picture it kind of reminded me of a rhubarb and strawberry pie. Rather than using a regular pie pan, a spring form pan is needed to make this deep dish pie. It has a crumb topping rather than a pie crust top.
Caramel-Pecan French Silk Pie
No pie and tart list would be complete without at least one chocolate pie thrown into the mix. However, this isn’t your momma’s chocolate pie.
Sweet Potato Pie
What Thanksgiving dinner would be right if there wasn’t at least one sweet potato pie for dessert? Again, a pie and tart list wouldn’t be complete without a sweet potato pie.
