The AFC East has been long dominated by the Patriots. However with the Jets making a deep run in the playoffs last year, have the tables turned? I believe they have. Although I still see the Patriots making it to the playoffs via the wild card.
Predicted End of Season AFC East Standings:
1. New York Jets
2. New England Patriots
3. Miami Dolphins
4. Buffalo Bills
New York Jets – The Jets defense is second to none. They are truly the leagues most dominant defense, and this will carry them to a division title. A lot of people think Mark Sanchez will be the downfall of the star studded team. Which he could be, but I believe as the season goes on he will get better and better. Plus when you have Greene and Tomlinson in your backfield, the passing game should be relatively open for Sanchez as defenses will be stacking the line in an attempt to stop the two backs.
New England Patriots – The Patriots had somewhat of a rebuilding year last year, plus one of their star receivers Welker was out for most of the year. Welker is back and the young team is another year better than last. However they will not have enough fire power to keep up with the Jets this year, however I still think they will do enough to make it to the playoffs with a wild card birth.
Miami Dolphins – The Dolphins are very close to being one of the top ten teams in the league. Although they did not make any off season moves to put themselves in a position to truly compete for the top of the division. Look for them to do well out of division but get beet up on in the division as they are not even a very good team at home.
Buffalo Bills – Many have been critical of the Bills font office after hiring Chan Gailey and having a questionable draft ignoring many of their key holes on the roster. I like the first round pick of C.J. Spiller. You cannot pass up a home run hitter when you do not have one, and by the looks of the preseason, Spiller is living up to that. However I am critical of their second round pick in passing on Clausen. I think the Bills will be their usual 7-9, struggling in the division but will have some surprising upsets.
