There are a lot of award shows that cater to the entertainment business, but none are as special as the various music award ceremonies. The American Music Awards is one of the many programs that covers various genres and types of music, and helps honor those artists who have achieved greatly each year.
According to USA Today, the nominations for the 2010 American Music Awards were announced Tuesday, Oct. 12. The announcement will give fans a month to vote for their favorite artist for the coveted awards. The winners of the American Music Awards will be announced Nov. 21 on ABC. The list includes Eminem and Lady Antebellum, who both lead the nominations with five each. Justin Bieber, Eminem, Ke$ha, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry all are up for the most coveted award, which is the 2010 Artist of the Year.
Out of all of the nominations for the American Music Awards, I believe that Eminem should win Artist of the Year for 2010. Eminem is one of the best artists of our time, and has had a very tumultuous career throughout the years. Eminem released his long-awaited album this year after spending three years away from the spotlight to deal with personal issues. Eminem has proved over the years that he is talented, and he has never shied away from sensitive topics in his songs.
I really enjoy Eminem, although I am not fond of his genre of music, because he gives a sense of truth in his music and his lyrics. The artists who are up for 2010 Artist of the Year are all great, but there is something about Eminem that makes him stand out among the nominees. Eminem has made a career out of being shocking and talking about things that people try to avoid or do not want to talk about. Whether you like him or hate him, you have to give him credit for speaking his mind and talking about social and political issues.
Eminem has impacted me in many ways and has truly won my support as a genuine artist and contender for Artist of the Year. Eminem never is afraid to speak his mind or rap about issues that are important to him, which is something I support and am grateful for. Eminem has impacted me personally because I can personally relate to how he feels during some of his songs and I can relate to the types of issues he talks about in his lyrics. Eminem is just one artist I truly respect because he talks and raps about things that happen in real life, such as domestic violence and being addicted to something like drugs.
I support Eminem for the 2010 Artist of the Year because he has truly come back into the spotlight after dealing with his demons and has shown that he is determined in his career. I might not always agree with the message or lyrics, but I do find his honesty to talk about what he feels to be special and genuine. Instead of focusing on false lyrics or false feelings, Eminem raps about what he feels and thinks to gain a following. I support him most of all out of the nominees because he speaks his mind, and that is something I think we need more of in this country.
