If you like to partake in the holiday happenings, you’ll need to know what Christmas events are going on in Dallas and surrounding area. There are so many to consider that it can get daunting trying to figure out which is the best one. This article will help save you a little time and detail the top four holiday related events happening for the 2010 Christmas season.
#1: Children’s MedicalCenterHoliday Parade
A parade is one of my favorite things to take the kids to because we can go pick a place to stand/sit and watch the parade go by us. The Children’s Medical Center Holiday Parade is taking place in downtown Dallas on December 4th, starting at 10 AM. The parade is free to attend but if you’re worried about not finding a place to sit, you can purchase a ticket for bleacher seating Ticket prices range from $23 to $120 dollars and can be bought here. Though the parade starts at 10 AM, it is recommended that you get there as early as 7 AM for free areas to watch from. You can bring chairs or blankets to sit on. To find your way to the parade, use the address for The Adolphus. It is located at 1321 Commerce Street Dallas Texas 75202.
#2: The Nutcracker
The Nutcracker is a Christmas classic. If you’ve never been to the ballet or if you’re a regular, prepare to be in awe of this Christmas tale that is performed by talented ballet dancers. Houston Ballet starts their shows in November and it continues on in December. There are two times for the showing on select dates which are 7:30 PM and 2 PM. For a list of dates, visit this link. Ticket prices vary depending on what show you go to (there are discounted ticket dates available) and the seats that you pick. Visit their website to get an accurate price. Houston Ballet is located at 501 Texas Ave (by Smith Street) in downtown Houston. For more info, call (713) 523-6300.
#3: Home for the Holidays
Another favorite is the Home for the Holidays event located in nearly Spring, Texas. The event hosts shopping opportunities, music, quartets, museum tours, photos with Santa as well as train and horse & carriage rides. At dusk, they light the Christmas tree for the first time of the year. The area will be decorated festively which adds to the fun. The event is located at 123-F Midway Spring, TX 77373. If you’d like more information, call (281) 353-9310.
Metro PCS is hosting the Fair Park Holiday on December 4th. It starts at 9 AM and ends at 7 PM. There will be several different things going on such as a holiday market where you can find awesome Christmas goodies, Santa’s Workshop (arts and crafts for your kids), dancing performances, rooftop firework display, entertainment for kids and adults alike and the City of Dallas will have its official tree lighting ceremony. It is a free event to take your family to but you will want to bring a little money for refreshments and if you park in the parking lot, you’ll be charged $10 dollars.
