Thursday NFL games, long cherished as a Thanksgiving exclusive, this year started a couple weeks ago. But those were on a channel most don’t get, involving teams most don’t follow. This week there are three Thursday games, boasting several Division leaders, including last years’ Super Bowl Champ. Enjoy. Happy Thanksgiving.
New England Patriots v Detroit Lions +6.5
If Tom Brady plays take the Patriots. If he does not, take the points. This seems like a cop out, sure, but it makes at least a 6-point difference. Forget covering, without Brady, the Patriots lose this game. If you cannot wait for the game-time decision, as we cannot, assume Belichick is again messing with our heads, and the injury report. Then expect Brady to play. Pick: Patriots -6.5
New Orleans Saints v Dallas Cowboys +3.5
3.5? The world has once again embraced the Dallas Cowboys. Does Jason Garrett mean that much? Against the doubtful Giants and Lions, yes. Against a Saints team that is catching all kinds of fire? Doubtful. Bottom line, Brees v Kitna. Who would you take? Pick: Saints -3.5
Cincinnati Bengals v New York Jets -9.5
The NFL cares about family. By airing the night game exclusively on their limited network, it will not be available in millions of homes. Thus millions of families can gather ’round the table and enjoy Thanksgiving dinner and one another in relative football-free peace. Thank you NFL Network and a Happy Thanksgiving to us all. Pick: Bengals +9.5 (Cincinnati does a wonderful job of covering when getting blown out early).
