The first month of the 2010 NFL season is coming to a close and we have already seen out share of storylines, from the upstart Kansas City Chiefs to the San Francisco 49ers who seemingly cannot get out of their own way. So far we have compiled a decent 27 – 6 record, but there is always room for improvement. Now here are the predictions for Week 4 of the 2010 NFL Season.
Seattle Seahawks at St. Louis Rams
Both the Seahawks and the Rams were able to come away with convincing wins last week and will now have a chance to earn a leg up in the every confusing NFC West division. The Seahawks forced the Chargers into five turnovers last week and will look to do the same to rookie quarterback Sam Bradford who has done enough to keep this team in it for a chance to win.
Prediction – Seattle 27 St. Louis 17
San Francisco 49ers at Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons are coming off an overtime win that has put them near the top of the pack in the NFC and will be facing a 49ers team that is still looking for their first win. If the 49ers could find a way to get running back Frank Gore into the endzone, they could earn a surprise win over the Falcons. The Falcons defense will lead the way for the team’s third win of the season.
Prediction – Atlanta 21 San Francisco 10
Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers
The Lions offense, who looked mortal last week against a decent Vikings defense, will have their hands full against a Packers unit eager to force the turnover. Fans should expect the Packers’ offense to tear right through the Lions’ defense that seems unable to score any points off of the turnovers they create.
Prediction – Green Bay 31 Detroit 10
Cincinnati Bengals at Cleveland Browns
The AFC North division game features a Bengals team beginning to hit their stride and a Browns team that seems unable to catch a break. The Bengals will need to make every opportunity count against a surprisingly tough Browns defense. The Browns will be eager to push running back Peyton Hillis to see if he can carry this team like he did against the Ravens. This will be a defensive struggle.
Prediction -Cincinnati 17 Cleveland 10
Denver Broncos at Tennessee Titans
The Broncos found a way to move the ball through the air against the Colts but were unable to score points when the opportunity presented itself. The Titans will enter this game riding high after earning a hard fought win over the New York Giants. Running Chris Johnson should have his way with the Broncos front seven and help carry his team to another victory. Remember, all Vince Young does is win when he is in.
Prediction – Tennessee 27 Denver 14
Carolina Panthers at New Orleans Saints
The Panthers will have to settle for a rebuilding year and allow rookie quarterback Jimmy Clausen pick up some much needed reps and hope their running game can offer him some protection. The Saints experienced their first loss of the season and will be ready to rebound against a NFC South division foe. The Saints will win this game going away.
Prediction – New Orleans 31 Carolina 10
Baltimore Ravens at Pittsburgh Steelers
If you are looking for a knock down fight in the NFL, this is the game to watch. The Ravens’ defense will be ready to make up for the yards they allowed last week on the ground while the Steelers’ offense will need to be firing on all cylinders if they want a win. Look for some hard hits on the field and expect the team with the biggest defensive play to win the game.
Prediction – Baltimore 17 Pittsburgh 14
New York Jets at Buffalo Bills
The New York Jets defense will be the key to their success this NFL season and will be able to ride it against a Buffalo Bills team that has questions on both sides of the ball. Bills’ rookie C.J. Spiller showed some flash last week on a return but will need to bring more with the offensive unit if the Bills are going to show any progress this season.
Prediction – New York 21 Buffalo 7
Houston Texans at Oakland Raiders
The Texans came back to earth a little last week when they were handed their first loss of the season by the Cowboys. The Raiders lost a heart breaker but showed they could put up some points without Jason Campbell in the lineup. If the Texans are going to be a playoff team this year, they need to earn a road win and this is the perfect time.
Prediction – Houston 35 Oakland 17
Indianapolis Colts at Jacksonville Jaguars
The Colts’ offense took apart the Broncos defense thanks to Peyton Manning with his 325 yards through the air and 3 touchdowns. The Jaguars were dominated by the Eagles and will need to find a way to bring Maurice Jones- Drew back into the game. The Colts’ defense should look better this week and earn a win on the road.
Prediction – Indianapolis 24 Jacksonville 14
Washington Redskins at Philadelphia Eagles
This should be one of the more intriguing games of the 2010 NFL season. Not only will fans see NFC East division foes go head to head, they will have the chance to see Redskins’ quarterback Donovan McNabb exact some revenge against his former team when they travel to the City of Brotherly Love and take on Michael Vick who has resurrected his career. `Though Vick has become a better quarterback, he does not measure up to McNabb who wins this one to show up Andy Reid.
Prediction – Washington 28 Philadelphia 21
Arizona Cardinals at San Diego Chargers
The Cardinals actually showed some life and earned an one point victory over the Oakland Raiders thanks to an average Derek Anderson at quarterback. If the Chargers can find a way to play consistently, they have the chance to be a real dangerous team. The Cardinals may see improvement in their offense but it is not going to be enough in San Diego.
Prediction – San Diego 27 Arizona 21
Chicago Bears at New York Giants
The Bears will be working on a short work week when they travel to New York to take on the Giants. By the end of week 3, the Martz-Cutler experiment will be in full swing and will have a better idea if the Bears are for real or fake. The Giants will need to find a way to give better protection to Eli Manning if they are going to have any success this 2010 NFL Season.
Prediction – Chicago 24 New York 17
New England Patriots at Miami Dolphins
The Patriots were able to put up 38 points on a AFC East rival but will have a harder go this week when they take on the Dolphins and their revamped defense. The Dolphins should be able to find their scoring groove but it won’t be enough to take down Tom Brady and company.
Prediction – New England 28 Miami 17
