The 2010 NFL Week 2 top fantasy football players includes several notable names and perhaps some names you may have heard only sparingly. I believe the following list of fantasy football players will be tops in 2010 NFL Week 2. I will list my duds for Week 2 below. Until then, enjoy my 2010 NFL Week 2 fantasy football projections.
2010 NFL Week 2 Top Fantasy Players
1) Brett Favre
Miami comes to town on Sunday. Favre didn’t have a Favre-like game on the road at New Orleans last Thursday night. I fully expect Favre to get back on track in a great way against the Dolphins. Favre should toss 2-3 touchdown passes and be in the vicinity of 250 yards. I believe the Dolphins will focus on stopping Adrian Peterson and that could open up Favre to have a huge fantasy football day.
2) Aaron Rodgers
Aaron Rodgers is capable of having a huge fantasy football week every week. This week will be no exception when the Packers host the Bills. Here is the key for this week-with Ryan Grant being ruled out the Packers offense could be way more prone to the air. Expect 3-4 touchdown passes for Rodgers and 300 plus yards. Rodgers could easily have the best individual week of all fantasy performers.
3) Matt Ryan
The Falcons are back home after a sluggish loss at Pittsburgh last week. Atlanta faces Arizona which intercepted but gave up quite a few yards against Sam Bradford and St. Louis last week. I expect Ryan to put up a huge day on the fantasy football field with 2-3 touchdowns and 250 plus yards.
1) Michael Vick
Philadelphia will most likely turn to Vick to start at quarterback in Detroit. Vick can be a fantasy monster if healthy. Vick could run for a pair of touchdowns and toss another and gobble up 300 or more total yards. He could slide into a huge fantasy football role if the Eagles opt to have him as the starting quarterback. The only thing about Vick–be weary of turnovers which can cost your team total fantasy points. My 2010 NFL Week 2 Fantasy Football projections still have Vick celebrating with a huge day and firmly cementing his feet in the job.
1) Frank Gore
Look for this 49’ers running back to bust out against the defending World Champion New Orleans Saints. I look for Gore to be the focus for a San Francisco team that is reeling after a loss in Seattle. Gore should be good for 2 touchdowns and 100 plus yards.
2) Chris Johnson
How can you ever not put this guy on the list? The Tennessee offense won’t have it as easy as they did last week against Oakland when they suit up against Pittsburgh on Sunday. But expect the Titans defense to set up the Titans offense with some turnovers deep in Pittsburgh territory. I believe the Steelers might, and that’s a big might, be able to hold Johnson to under 100 yards rushing. I don’t believe they’ll be able to keep him out of the end zone. Johnson scores 3 touchdowns and rushes for 96 yards on the ground.
3) Adrian Peterson
I believe Miami will try and focus their defensive attack on stopping Peterson. With that in mind, I don’t believe it’ll work. Favre could have a huge first half and help the Vikings build a substantial lead. If that happens, it will be Peterson time in the second half. In my 2010 NFL Week 2 Fantasy Football projections, Peterson racks up 127 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Sleeper Running Back
1) Brandon Jackson
Green Bay will have to turn to Jackson after Ryan Grant got knocked out for the year with an injury in the season opener. Jackson could top 100 yards and 2 scores if the Packers start rolling and Buffalo tries to concentrate on the Green Bay passing attack.
1) Andre Johnson
There is no doubt Washington will be resting their defense on top of Arian Foster after a big game last week. In that case, look for the Texans to air it out frequently to spread things out a bit. Who would benefit from that? Andre Johnson. I think Johnson could have a monster week with 145 yards and 1-2 touchdowns if that happens.
2) Reggie Wayne
The Colts top play-maker is a safe met almost any week. This week the Colts host the Giants and the run game might be derailed just a bit. If that happens, expect Peyton Manning to find a comfortable target in Wayne. Wayne goes over the century mark with 1-2 scores against the Giants.
3) Calvin Johnson
After the questionable call on Sunday, Johnson will redirect his anger at the football field. I truly believe Johnson will have a big follow up week against the Eagles. Johnson catches 7 passes for 119 yards and 2 scores. The big question–will Johnson make an emphatic statement on his first touchdown catch and get tossed? That would certainly hurt those fantasy football numbers for week 2 if he did.
Sleeper Wide Receiver
1) Percy Harvin
Harvin didn’t exactly have a good season opener. Expect that to change in the 2010 NFL Week 2 fantasy football schedule. Harvin will reel in 2 touchdown catches from Favre and reach 75 plus yards.
1) Tony Gonzalez
Gonzalez could benefit from Matt Ryan having a special day. I believe that’s exactly what will happen in my projections for 2010 NFL Week 2. Gonzalez catches 2 touchdown passes and compiles 60 plus yards.
2010 NFL Week 2 Fantasy Football Duds
1) David Garrard
I think San Diego will be so ticked off that David Garrard will probably be public enemy number one when Jacksonville comes to town. I expect the Chargers to intercept Garrard 2-3 times and to hold his total yardage output to 175 yards or less.
2) Matt Forte
Forte had a brilliant week for the Chicago Bears last week. I think his numbers will be well off that pace this week against the Dallas Cowboys stingy defense. Forte has 94 total yards(rush and receiving) and zero touchdowns.
3) Larry Fitzgerald
Fitzgerald is the kind of player who can hit and miss. I believe he will do more missing that hitting during the 2010 NFL Week Fantasy Football schedule. My projections have Fitzgerald frozen out with zero scores and 60 yards or less.
That’s it for my 2010 NFL Week 2 Fantasy Football projections. Enjoy the week and happy Fantasy Footballing!
