The 2011 Dodge Charger Pursuit vehicle had its first image revealed today. The 2011 Dodge Charger Pursuit will compete with the Ford Police Interceptor in markets looking for powerful (and quick) cars designed specifically to help in police chases. The photo at the top of the article (click on it to enlarge) is the first press image released by Chrysler, and it makes the 2011 Dodge Charger Pursuit look like something you would see in a future action film. One thing is for sure, this new Dodge Charger Pursuit is intimidating to look at, and that might be exactly what police departments are looking to buy.
So how about some of the specs on the 2011 Dodge Charger Pursuit. According to Inside Line, the Charger Pursuit has a standard E85-capable 3.6-liter V6 engine or an optional 5.7-liter Hemi V8 engine. That compares very favorably to the 263-hp 3.5-liter V6 engine or optional 365-hp EcoBoost V6 on the Ford Police Interceptor. It will also have rear-wheel-drive, performance suspension tuning, heavy-duty antilock brakes, front and rear stabilizer bars, and electronic stability control. Inside the cabin will be red/white LED lighting for night vision equipment. These are certainly optimal attributes for any police chase vehicle.
Can the 2011 Dodge Charger Pursuit steal all of the sales away from the Ford Police Interceptor? They are certainly about to try! Seeing a police car like this one on any street could definitely curtail more people from thinking they can out-run the police, and if they come with a high safety rating, there might be no reason for police departments to not switch over to Dodge. This is what Brass uses on CSI, so maybe the mainstream will see these very soon.
