There are a number of covert persuasion techniques out there that you can use for your own personal gain and advancement. However, most of them are a little too tricky or even creepy for any regular person to attempt. I know this because I’ve looked; and well, I don’t always like what I see.
What we need are methods of influence that are safe and simple to use. Read on to learn more.
Covert Persuasion Technique # 1: Keep Them Comfortable.
The first thing you must remember is to keep the person you’re talking to at ease. Don’t jump right into what you plan for him to do. Start with stating simple facts like “You’re sitting there right in front of me comfortable and at ease.”
It may be a plain observation, but it is in alignment with what the person knows and believes. Continue feeding him facts like this for a short while, until you feel that he is well and truly put in an agreeing mood. This technique will then prepare him for what is to come.
Covert Persuasion Technique # 2: Use The Word “Because.”
How often do we use the word “because” in a real sentence? In my opinion, we don’t use it often enough. Sure, we use it when writing letters, but do you have any idea how powerful this word is when used verbally in actual sentence?
When you’re trying to reason out the need for a second chance to your boss, for example, you don’t say “I deserve a second chance for all my hard work.” Instead, you say, “I deserve a second chance because I worked really hard on this project.”
That word alone gives you an air of maturity and credibility that will always work to your advantage.
Covert Persuasion Technique # 3: Use Tag Questions.
I hope you still remember your grammar lessons, because one particular topic is actually one of the simplest yet most effective mind control techniques out there – tag questions.
Tag questions are questions that end with another mini question. Examples include: You’re not going to let these poor children starve, are you? They will return for us, won’t they?
See what I mean? When trying to get someone to do what you want, make sure to phrase your requests in the form of tag questions because it puts them in just the right position to say “yes.”
Covert persuasion techniques are only as effective as the person using them. Don’t expect these mind control methods to work perfectly, especially if you don’t have a lot of self-confidence. Practice them as much as you can and you’ll see yourself improving every step of the way.
