Many parents hate the traditional, trick or treating atmosphere that Halloween presents. Aside from children begging for free candy and potentially rotting their teeth, trick or treating is timely, costly and potentially unsafe. Thus, there is small wonder why a parent would want other activities for allowing their children to enjoy Halloween.
Luckily for parents in Denton, Texas, non- traditional Halloween activities are wholly possible. More importantly, these activities are mostly free for Denton families. Therefore, parents can not only allow their children to partake in Halloween festivities, but they can do so at no or little cost.
The first event happens a few times in Denton. It is called Halloween Grossology. Parents and children ages 8 to 12 can learn how to make fake blood, vomit, brains and more gross and disgusting things. The event is completely free and educational. It happens at the South Branch Library which is located at: 3228 Teasley Lane, Denton, TX, 76210. This event takes place on the following dates:
– 10/8 from 4pm until 5pm & 10/27 from 4pm until 5pm
The next event is Spooky Story Time. Parents and children can meet at various libraries, dressed in their costumes and have a Halloween parade. Ghost stories from books like Goose Bumps, Real Ghost Stories and local student creations are also acted out aloud, for family enjoyment. The best part about this event, aside from it being completely safe, is that it is also, completely free! Much like the Halloween Grossology event, Spooky Story Time is offered at several different times. But it is not for everyone. The City of Denton recommends bring children ages 1 to 5 to this event.
