Since finding my birth family (more about that later in the month) I have discovered that I have 7 brothers – at last count. I have only met one of them so far – my mother’s son. My brother, Bryan. I love my brother, for so many reasons; and today I am going to share with you just why I am so thankful for Bryan.
San’s Top 15 Reasons to be Thankful for Bryan:
(1) My brother is smart
(2) …and funny.
(3) He makes great egg sandwiches
(4) …and lives near a fabulous drive-in theatre.
(5) Bryan works hard to provide for his family
(6) …and takes good care of them in so many other ways too.
(7) He’s cute
(8) …but he looks like me so he can thank me for that one (or good genes, I suppose).
(9) Bryan is kind
(10) …and extremely considerate of other people’s feelings.
(11) He likes to fish
(12) …and is quite good at it (or so I’ve been told).
(13) Bryan is a great dad
(14) …with two beautiful boys
(15) …that I am blessed to call my nephews.
You see? I don’t know my brother very well. We’re working on that – as only brothers and sisters can. It’s a boy-girl thing, I think! And as I get to know my brother better I am so very thankful that he is mine – and my sister’s, of course.
I have a brother. You may be thinking: “Okay crazy lady, time to hop off the ride now.” But you must know that uttering those words (I have a brother) still amazes me. One year in and I am so very thankful that I have a brother.
Oh, and there is one more great reason that I am thankful for Bryan.
He was, once upon a time, very fortunate to fall in love with a girl named Christina. Smart guy that he is, he snatched her up and never looked back. And for this I am thankful (selfishly so) because Christina is all kinds of brilliant in so many ways.
Christina is a wife, a mother, a teacher, and a friend. She is honest and caring and ridiculously funny. Christina doesn’t have to work very hard to be who she is; she just is.
And she is my sister-in-law. How lucky am I?
So you see? Today I am thankful for my brother Bryan who is married to a wonderful girl named Christina. I am thankful to have both of them (+ 2) in my life. I am so very thankful to be a big sister to a really cool guy who was, once upon a time, smart enough to fall in love with a really cool girl.
Thank you, Bryan – for making me a big sister, a sister-in-law, and an Auntie too. I love you!
My brother, Bryan
And his lovely wife, Christina
Please Note: No brothers were overly embarrassed in the giving of this thanks – as far as I know. And if he is than he can just “suck it up” because he should know me well enough by now to know that I say what I mean and I mean what I say and sometimes it just comes out mushy!
And if you are wondering why I am being so darn thankful this November (month of thanksgiving), you may read: 30 Days of Thanksgiving-One Day at a Time. Remember, giving thanks for your many blessings does not have to be just a November thing. Enjoy!
