Net curtains are a beautiful addition to the home, whether they adorn just a few select windows in the kitchen to allow more light into the room, or they are displayed in the whole home. What can you do to enhance the look of net curtains?
Wash Net Curtains on a Gentle Cycle
Do not neglect to wash net curtains, as they can start to look dingy and dirty after a while if they are allowed to hang without being washed. This in turn will bring down the look of the rest of the room, rather than enhance the visual appeal of your home. Wash net curtains on a gentle cycle to prevent tears and rips. Alternatively, hand wash net curtains and allow them to soak in the sink with bleach, detergent, or baking soda and vinegar, for a natural white sheen.
Repair Ripped Net Curtains
Net curtains are more fragile than sturdier, fabric curtains, which makes them more susceptible to rips and tears, especially if you have pets or young children playing with them when your back is turned. Repair any rips or tears you see as soon as possible, to keep the curtains looking good. Quick repairs also help prevent the rips and tears from getting any bigger and ruining the rest of the curtains.
Tiebacks look great on fabric curtains, but there is no reason why you cannot also use tiebacks with net curtains. This works best when you have a lot of excess net curtain material, to help create a more attractive bunched up appearance.
Add Contrasting Curtains
If you have two curtain rods in place on each window treatment, consider adding contrasting curtains, with net curtains underneath and a stylish pair of curtains draped over the top on the larger rod. White net curtains paired with heavy duty burgundy curtains can look stunning in a room with oak or cherry wood furniture.
Net curtains are a great addition in any home, as they look elegant and provide a lot more light in the home. Keep your net curtains looking good by regularly washing them, repairing any rips or tears and by using tiebacks. Adding contrasting curtains over the top can also add to the visual appeal of the room.
