Baby doll dresses have been popular for a long time. We love wearing them because they are adorable and comfortable. With a signature high-waist silhouette, baby doll dresses also flatter any kind of figure. They are normally worn during the summer, but here are a few easy tips to extend wearing baby doll dresses into the winter.
Tip 1: Leggings
Leggings are essential during the winter! Unlike jeans and pants, leggings are not bulky, but they are warm. Wearing a baby doll dress over a pair of leggings is a great look because the volume of the dress balances out the tightness of the leggings.
If you want to dress down, there is a new trend called “jeggings”, or denim leggings. This is a new concept but it’s really catching on. Jeggings are popular because they work like leggings but can be quite casual.
Tip 2: Long Cardigan
Long cardigans look cool but keep you warm. Because they are long, even the thickly-stitched ones look lean. So they are unlikely to bulk up your outfit. Wearing a long cardigan on top of a baby doll dress, over a pair of leggings or jeggings, is a great layering technique.
Tip 3: Thigh High or Knee High Boots
Knee High boots are all the rage this fall! But I think boots are popular no matter what their height. Even the very casual ones, like riding boots, are sexy to put on.
They work well with leggings, because they add volume to something tight and skinny. Also, we are used to wearing baby doll dresses with bare legs. Wearing them with boots adds a new dynamic to the outfit.
Tip 4: The Right Cold Weather Accessories
Now that it’s winter, you have a chance to wear all kinds of cute hats, gloves and scarves. With the outfit you have already, it’s fitting to put on something simple, like a news boy cap or a long silk scarf.
Don’t wear anything too thick! You have already put on a lot at this point.
As far as jewelry, I wouldn’t stack them on. In fact, leave off the necklace and the bracelets. Just a piece of statement ring on your hands is sufficient for ornating the entire outfit.
Fun and flirty, a baby doll dress is our staple for summer fashion. But that doesn’t mean they don’t work in the cold weather. A little creativity can go a long way when we practice layering with a baby doll dress. Hope the tips helped with your own cold weather creation!
