Michigan Renaissance Festival In Holly, Michigan
This fall harvest festival will be located at 12600 Dixie Highway in Holly, Michigan. Do you have a special Renaissance attire? This is the place that you want to show it off. There will be fabulous costumed players, jousting, fames and comedy, and a parade. This fall festival will be open for 8 weekends. (Saturday & Sundays) plus Labor Day and fall harvest festival Friday, August 21-October 3, 2010, 10 a.m-7p.m. This sensational festival includes the Harvest Huzzah. Michigan Pumpkin Fest in Caseville, Michigan
This will be the 8th Annual Pumpkin Fest from October 2-3, 2010. Previous events have included pony rides, music in the park, bike drawings, pumpkin seed spitting contest, pumpkin decorating, and much more. Vernon Harvest Festival
The Vernon Harvest Festival in Vernon, Michigan will be October 3, 2010 from 11 a.m.-6 pm downtown.
Some of the activities will include a volleyball tournament, Bounce Houses for $5.00 for the children. They will be able to purchase a wrist band to bounce all day. I just love to see the children in the bounce houses. They really seem to enjoy it. There will be a Pumpkin Decorating Contest. The pumpkins will be divided into the groups as follows: age 5 &under, 6-10, 11-15, and adult. There will be a scarecrow decorating contest. This contest can be a group or individual participation. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
Do you enjoy cooking? Why not enter the Chili Cook-Off? Enter your favorite recipe, or you might want to be a taster, then you can cast your vote. Either way, it is a win/win situation. It will only cost $5.00 to enter and $1.00 to participate in the voting/tasting. The following prizes will be awarded: 1st prize $100 Cash Prize, 2nd Prize $20 Village Café’ Certificate, and 3rd Prize $10 Village Hair Shoppe Certificate. There will be a Pie Baking contest. Just think, you could enter your best homemade apple or pumpkin pie. $5 per entry. 1st Prize $50 Cash Prize. Runner up $20 Vernon Florist Certificate.
You must visit the Vernon Library Book Sale. Also you can show off your Wii skills. Do not forget the Sheriff Poss. This service will be available for providing finger printing for children. Face painting, airbrush tattoos, DJ and MC for the day, and country music and dancing are just a few of the activities that you will see there. I believe that I like the face painting just as much as the children do.
Do you like pancakes? Then you will enjoy the all you can eat pancake breakfast provided by the Vernon United Methodist for ages 11 and over, $4 and 10 and under $2. I am sure “all you can eat” will provide much palate pleasure. You can get nachos, hot dogs, popcorn, fruit smoothies, and ice cream which will be provided by “Sweets-n-Treats” Ice Cream Parlor. The Miller family started Papa’s Pumpkin Patch in 2000. Children and adults can enjoy hayrides, farm parties, and much more. Their belief is that Playing and having fun are essential for the mental and physical. I definitely agree with that.
This festival will occur the First October at Papa’s Pumpkin Patch. This is one of the largest Autumn Festival in Central Michigan. Some of the activities will include Pumpkin Train Rides, Corn Maze, Pedal Tractor Corral, Sandbox, Pumpkin Thieves Jail House, Fruit and Vegetable Picking, and Pumpkin color Display. Starting October 17 thru October 31,2010. Walking tours to the vegetable garden, and orchard and fishpond will be available
The Corn Maze is an educational and recreational maze carved in a field of tall corn with stations and games. I would say this is quite a creative idea.
Oktoberfest in Frankenmuth, Michigan
Oktoberfest is September 16-19, 2010. Oktoberfest in Frankenmuth, Michigan is a traditional celebration of German beer. This fall festival started in Munich in 1810 and commemorated the marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig in Germany. It is the world’s largest fair. This is an important part of German culture. About six million people attend every year. Frankenmuth Oktoberfest will be celebrating 21 years in 2010.
Oktoberfest is at Heritage Park, 601 Weiss Street, Frankenmuth, Michigan 48734 and parking is FREE. Parking is right on the festival grounds.
There will be dancing as well as a large selection of ethnic food and beverages along with American items. Admission is only $8.00 per adult. 12 and under are free. Sunday all day is Free.
