Love (noun): unselfish, loyal and benevolent concern for the good of another (Merriam-Webster, 2010).
Love (verb): to hold dear; cherish (Merriam-Webster, 2010).
There are many definitions of love-the noun and the verb-and far be it for me to tell anyone exactly what love means. But Merriam-Webster has summed it up nicely and I agree with these two definitions. With that in mind I want you to know 5 things I love about you.
5 Things I Love About You:
#1: Your heart. I am not sure how you carry it around with you (because it must be enormous) to hold that much love inside it and still be able to function properly for you. I also know that I am safely settled in there somewhere and this makes me so happy.
#2: Your attitude. There are times (a good 3%, I’d say) when your attitude is awful. But because you more than make up for it 97% of the time I can surely live with the other. You take life as it comes and work really hard at not letting anyone tell you how to be. You just are, and that is good enough for me.
#3: Your humor. Are you that funny in real life or is it just because you make me laugh that I think you are the funniest person I’ve ever met? You’re quick with a joke; witty and charming without being a bore and sometimes you make me laugh so hard that I want to throw up. Thank you for that.
#4: Your unconditional loyalty. You spend large portions of your day making sure others are taken care of and you do these things so well and so often that you probably do not even think about it most of the time. But I do; a lot. I know you love your family-friends included-and would do anything you could for each and every one of us without judgment or misunderstanding.
#5: But the most important thing I love about you is that you love me. For whatever reason and how I got so lucky, I just do not know. But I don’t dwell on it because that part is not important. I know your love for me is forever and I will spend all that time honoring you and loving you right back. It’s certainly no bother-you deserve it and I just thought you should know.
If you, dear reader, has found someone who makes you feel this way then never forget to cherish each moment and take time to appreciate what you’ve got. Go on; tell the one you love (today) 5 things you love about them.
Please note: There are times when I sit down to write an article and it ends up being something completely different then what I intended (please see 5 Things I Hate About You). But I wouldn’t be any kind of romantic if I believed that none of the above applies to anyone else in the world. I am just fortunate enough that all 5 things I love about you really are true-to you.
