Candy Melts are small round discs of flavored and colored candy that can be easily melted and can be found in any craft store or the baking section of your grocery or super store. Follow the directions on the back of the package of your favorite color and try out these really fun ideas.
Molds – Wilton makes a very large variety of candy molds for any and every occasion. You simply melt the Candy Melts and pour into the molds. You can also add lollipop sticks, also found in the craft or baking aisle, to turn your candies into fun suckers. If you are making a themed cake, you can use your candy made from molds to add decoration to the cake. Imagine using the mummy mold to make a little graveyard with chocolate cake. Or adding green Christmas Trees to a white cake topped with baking sugar. The ideas are endless.
Covered Oreos- First, gently open the Oreo cookie about half way and gently insert a lollipop stick between the outer cookies. You may want to freeze the cookies for a few minutes after this to help keep it all together. While the Oreos are in the freezer, melt the Candy Melts according to the package directions. Remove the Oreo cookies from the freezer and gently dip each cookie into the melt and then place on wax paper to allow it to cool and harden. For a little extra splash of color, you can melt a different color Candy Melt and use a spoon to drizzle it over the covered cookies.
Oreo Balls – These are an all time favorite of mine. Crush up an entire package of Oreo cookies. You can do this in a food processer or let the kids have fun using a rolling pin to smash them inside a Ziploc bag. Mix the crushed Oreo cookies with one block of cream cheese. Once combined roll the mixture into small balls about 1″-2″ around and insert a lollipop stick. After rolling the balls you will want to stick them in the freezer while melting your Candy Melts. Then, dip each ball into the melt and place on wzx paper to cool and harden. You can also roll the ball into more crushed Oreos or sprinkles.
Caramel Apples – After making your delicious caramel apples using your favorite method, melt your Candy Melts and use a spoon to drizzle the melt over your apples. Then take the apple and roll it around in your favorite sprinkles. You will have a gourmet caramel apple without paying a gourmet price.
Melted Frosty – Celebrate the melting of snow with an adorable Frosty the Snowman…melted. First you will need to get a few ingredients together. For each Melted Frosty you will need a braown candy melt, 6 mini chocolate chips,1 Rolo candy, and he orange tip of one candy corn. Following the package instructions, melt white Candy Melts and drop a rounded tablespoon of melt onto wax paper. Using the back of the spoon, spread the melt into a puddle form. Working quickly, place two mini chocolate chips as eyes and 4 as the mouth. The orange tip of the candy corn will be Frosty’s nose. Use a small dot of white Candy Melt to adhere the brown candy melt to a Rolo candy for Frosty’s hat and let the candy cool and harden.
Dipped Strawberries – Dip an entire strawberry into melted chocolate flavored Candy Melts for a sweet twist on a chocolate covered strawberry. For some added indulgence, drizzle a small amount of caramel over each strawberry.
Candy Melts have endless uses to help make sweet treats even more special and fun. Use some of my ideas or make up your own! It is fun for the whole family and truly delicious to enjoy.
