Whatever it is that you want to achieve, you will have to put in work and effort however, achieving success begins with setting good goals. Without setting goals for yourself, you will not know what to work toward. Setting defined goals makes it easier to stay focused.
The first step to take is to figure out your major ambition in life. This may change a lot and that is normal. As we get older and our priorities change, our goals will too. Identifying your aspiration in life will help you to identify smaller goals you can set that will lead up to you accomplishing your major goal.
The second step is identifying the kind of lifestyle that you want to live. After determining the kind of life, you want to live, you should figure out what you need to do in order to achieve that goal. Some people may want to live a simple life filled with creating art or gardening. Achieving that will probably not require loads of money. However if you want to travel around the world first class and staying in five star hotels, you may need more money.
Write down the things you will need to achieve in order to reach your major life goal and to live the kind of lifestyle you want. These goals are usually your most important. Then identify another 3-5 goals that you want to achieve that may not fit into those two categories. The reason the number is kept between three and five is because having too many goals can cause you to feel overwhelmed. You can add more goals to your list when you achieve some of the goals on your current list.
After you have all of your goals listed, it is a good idea to divide them into two groups: long-term goals and short-term goals. Dividing your goals into these two groups will help you focus on what you need to do now, as well as the big picture.
