Nao flattened the pleats of her dress before leaving the bedroom. She called out to her mother but she didn’t receive an answer, so she headed down the stairs. If her mother didn’t quickly get the car ready, then she would be late for the Halloween party. Nao quickly checked the kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom, but her mother wasn’t to be found. A few minutes later, she exited the house, calling out for her mother. There was a bang behind the garage and Nao jumped, startled by the noise.
“Mommy,” she called and something banged again. Stepping beside the garage, Nao grabbed a hold of the door knob, slowly pulling it open, “Mommy?”
The garage was empty and Nao began feeling a bit worried. Nervously, she ran back into the house and took her cellular phone out, calling her friend.
“Yukimura, please come over to my house. I need you to pick me up.” Yukimura asked Nao why her mother couldn’t bring her over to the school. She breathed heavily through her nose. “Please just come.”
Usually, Nao’s mother would make wait like this, and where was her mother anyway? She angrily stomped up the stairs and went into her room. An hour passed and Nao was still waiting. No sign of her mother, or her father. Where were they? She needed to get going, and it was getting late. Soon it would be just about dinner time. A honk outside was what woke Nao from a short nap she was taking while waiting. Quickly, she pulled her bag over her shoulder and ran out of the house.
“Took you long enough,” Nao was saying as she got into the car. When she looked up to see her friend, there was her mother in the driver seat all covered in blood. She began screaming at the top of her lungs, kicking at the car door until it opened. From the corner of her eye she saw a shadow running towards her. Out of shock, she began swinging her bag.
“Nao! It’s me Yuki!” he pulled her against his chest. “What’s wrong?”
“M-mommy…” she sobbed.
Yukimura headed towards the car and looked inside, jumping back himself once he saw Nao’s mother.
“What the?! Nao, what happened to your mom?!” He asked her, lifting her head.
She shook her head, tears coming down her cheeks. “I didn’t…do…anything.”
He took Nao back into the house and gave her something to drink, urging her to explain. She told him everything, from the time she began dressing for the party to the time her mom went missing. Yukimura called the police, but weirdly the police didn’t answer. There was something wrong, his parents were answering either. Near tears again, Nao asked Yukimura to walk with her to her girlfriend’s house, which they did. When they got there, the front door was open.
“Mimura-chan?” Nao called out worriedly. “Please not you too.”
Yukimura and Nao both searched the entire house, not finding a living soul. Where could everyone possibly have gone?! They checked the police station, stores, and houses. Nao couldn’t stop crying because she was too scared. Finally, Nao and Yukimura drove to school where the Halloween party was supposed to be held. The both of them made their way to the basket ball room inside and when they got inside, everyone was there standing with their bodies facing toward the stage. Yukimura called out some of his friends names, but there was no answer. He began making his way towards some of the people.
“No…don’t…” Nao pleaded, backing up against the curtain on the wall. She didn’t want something to happen to her friend.
Yukimura tapped his hand on one of the persons that was standing up. There was no movement so he proceeded to turn the person, only to realize that the person was now on top of him and Nao, screaming. The person began clawing at Yukimura’s eyes as he struggled to push the person. Nao ran over to his side and began frantically kicking at the person so that he would get of Yukimura. Finally the person was thrown across the room by Nao and Yukimura. The both of them quickly stood up from off the floor, now realizing that they were surrounded by a group of people that were previously standing further away.
“Yuki what are we going to do?!” Nao squealed, pushing their hands away as they tried to grab at her. When she turned her head, Yukimura was squirming on the floor as another group of the people had their heads together, and what looked like they were eating his stomach. At this point Nao was also on the floor, screaming for her life. Soon she felt a piercing pain in her neck. Looking down, she saw a little boy wearing a skeleton costume, pull his head away from her neck with a piece of her flesh in his mouth. Nao began gasping for air, pulling at the people around her, and she could hear Yukimura’s frantic screams as they were being eaten alive.
