Capping off quite the successful evening, Justin Bieber was the big winner at the 2010 American Music Awards in Los Angeles, California on Sunday evening (November 21).
With the show being held at Nokia Theatre LA Live, the “U Smile” hitmaker ended up being awarded with the annual event’s top prize – Artist of the Year.
Being doted with multiple trophies during the AMAs, Bieber also picked up honors for Pop/Rock male, Favorite Album and Breakthrough Artist of the Year.
While accepting the Artist of the Year honors, Justin thanked mention and best friend Usher, as he told the audience, “I really was embraced by a man named Usher Raymond. It would be only right if I invited him up here to share it with me.”
Set to take home four trophies, Justin Bieber showed his fan appreciation by providing the audience and viewers with a rendition of his new song, “Pray”.
Talking about the tune prior to the AMAs, Justin said, “‘Pray’ is one of my favorite songs I’ve ever recorded. It’s very motivational and really inspiring. It definitely is able to touch people…There’s so many songs about love, and it’s just great that I’m basically able to step out of that. I thought of Michael Jackson’s ‘Man in the Mirror’ when I was writing this.”
As for his new album, Bieber dished, “It’s more personal with the fans…It makes the fans want to be there.”
Following his big win at the awards ceremony, Justin was joined by Katy Perry and Russell Brand as they doted on the “Baby” singer, jokingly trying to give him kisses and laughing it up for the camera.
