A relative and I recently visited the Cedar River Seafood Restaurant in Cairo, Georgia, located on Highway 84. We had both had heard rave reviews from the locals about the tasty seafood that could be found there. Here is my review of the place.
Cedar River Seafood Restaurant is very attractive on the outside and it is a pretty large restaurant, considering the small size of the town of Cairo, Georgia. This restaurant is a part of a franchise and there are Cedar River restaurants located all over parts of Georgia and Florida, I discovered! When I visited, I was in the mood for some seafood. The server, hostess and waitress was really friendly and she provided us with excellent service. The menu is quite large and it offered so many great choices. Unusual foods like gator tail and frog legs made me laugh but, I was in the mood for some fried oysters, one of my favorites. I ordered that and two side dishes, a bowl of okra, tomatoes and white rice, along with a baked potato. Hushpuppies also came along with the meal. Lots of food. Yay!
Since we were there during lunch hours, the entree, or lunch special was only around nine dollars. Not a bad deal, especially when I saw the large lunch portion of oysters that I was given. Wow! Though the oysters were small in size, they were big on flavor. I loved the light and crunchy batter on them. They were delicious. My bowl of okra, tomatoes and white rice resembled a gumbo dish and it was yummy. And, the hushpuppies had lots of onion flavor in them, which I like. The service was so speedy and I absolutely enjoyed the meal. Country music was playing softly in the background as we dined. This restaurant has a small town, down home feel to it and it is very relaxed. I loved it!
