A Thanksgiving Day Drink
Thanksgiving is a celebration primarily observed in the United States and Canada. In the United States it is one of the largest family gatherings of the year. The day is filled with parades, football, shopping mailers, and of most of all the Thanksgiving Day Dinner. With all that is going on, the preparing of the turkey, the catching up with family and friends, and fixing the feast, perhaps the most often forgotten part of this traditional day is what drinks are being served. Living in an area were the weather is warm, even in November, makes the “traditional” Thanksgiving Day beverages not that popular around our house. The hot chocolate, warm egg-nog, and hot apple cider that most serve during this time of year are not the beverages that our children were raised on. Instead, the one drink that is served at our holiday table we call “The Breeze”. It is mixture of flavors that incorporates one of the holiday’s star food, the cranberry. It is a drink that everyone likes and can serve with or without the alcohol.
3 cups cranberry juice
2 cups orange juice (no pulp)
2 cups of soda water
½ cup Vodka (optional)
Step 1: In a blender crush your ice.
Step 2:Add all ingredients into blender and mix. (normally I hit the stir just a couple of time to make sure all is blended well)
You can serve with a slice of orange or lemon on the side of the glass. If you are not a Vodka drinker you can use wine or rum.
