Whilst looking for things to do around Brooklyn, I stumbled upon this interesting event listed for Galapagos Art Space in Dumbo: Oct. 23rd, Floating Kabarette. The image on the virtual flyer looks like some kind of cross between Swan Lake and maybe Rocky Horror, although that’s probably because I have absolutely no idea what Swan Lake looks like.
I do love Rocky Horror however, so that aspect of this event has my interest piqued, while the part that looks like Swan Lake (to me), makes me go WTF?
Clicking on the link that appears to belong to the group who is performing doesn’t help my confusion: an image of two people sitting at a low table in low light, facing the audience, one with face blurry from movement appearing as if he/she is eating without the use of hands as quickly as possible, while the other person, a thin Caucasian woman with a Japanese head band and a Budweiser, stares at the crowd wide eyed as if reconsidering the wisdom of participating in a kinky Japanese eating/sex contest.
But of course, I have absolutely no idea what that would actually look like, so as I said, my confusion only grows.
The event at Galapagos advertises that the first 25 customers are free, however, and tickets are only $10 anyways. So I’m thinking this looks like it might have some potential to entertain, amuse and further confuse my readily befuddled mind.
Besides, I don’t have any other plans for Saturday, so what the hell, why not.
