At this point, the holidays are well on their way, and it’s likely that many of us are already beginning to feel the added stress that accompanies them. Getting things done in a timely manner as well as keeping ourselves sane can unequivocally prove to be our greatest challenges of the season. Nonetheless, it’s paramount to take the time we need to implement activities that relieve holiday stress. I’ve had plenty of experience doing just that, and here are a few of the activities I’ve found to be most helpful during the holiday rush.
Whether you choose to run, jump rope, stair step, swim or perhaps some other mode of aerobics, do make sure to fit it in. I’ve found that there’s nothing more mentally and physically soothing than churning and burning the cobwebs from our mind and bodies, as occurs with a good aerobic workout. If you’re already someone that does this mode of exercise, you know its value in this regard. Once you’ve experienced the feeling of well-being that you achieve after your workout, you’ll be motivated to keep doing it, too! Another plus for after the holidays!
Yoga has to be one of the best stress relievers I’ve ever tried. The gentle yet very strenuous type of combination that you get with yoga seems to hit the stress spot quite well once you’ve finished and the feeling of well-being appears. At least that’s been my own experience. You come away much more relaxed and flexible than you were when you started. It’s a pleasant and positive feeling that you can’t seem to get any other way. Try it! Once you feel what I’m referring to, you’ll be hooked!
Take Time with Friends
Sometimes it helps to give yourself some time with friends to relax, chit chat and just enjoy the company of some good friends. When the holiday stress is getting to you, why not give a couple of your favorite friends a call to plan a nice evening? Maybe a holiday play, a nice meal together or even a winter activity like ice skating could be just the thing to help you unwind and de-stress. You’ll more than likely walk away feeling mentally rejuvenated and revived, helping you to gear up for the remainder of your holiday season.
What’s a better stress reliever than a good massage? There probably isn’t anyone who wouldn’t benefit from a few of these throughout the holiday season! You can do the traditional less intense type of massage that doesn’t get too involved with deep tissue. However, if you’re really feeling a lot of holiday stress, why not go for the big guns with a deep tissue massage that really digs into the areas that tend to get hit hard by excess stress? Don’t be afraid to go more than once either. Do whatever you need to maintain a feeling of well being.
There are a number of activities to relieve holiday stress, and these just briefly touch on the vast amount of ways to manage holiday stress levels. Whatever activity you choose to help you maintain a healthy mental and physical state during the holidays is fine. You just need something that works in a positive direction to give you a feeling a peace and well being throughout the holiday season. All that’s left is to enjoy yourself!
