In this tutorial, I am going to show users how to add images to their Xoops site. Before you can add images to your site, you will have to create categories to place these images in. You will need at least one category before you can upload images. If you need help with creating these categories, please see my tutorial on creating image categories in Xoops.
If you already have your categories created, you can login as admin and we will get started. You will need to open your image panel by going to the control panel. Once you are in the control panel, look for the Image Manager icon and click it. When the page loads, you will be on the page where you can upload your first image to your Xoops site.
On this page, you will see the fields that need to be filled in to add the photos to your site. Below I will list the fields that are in this box and give you a brief explanation for each one. You can then fill the fields in and continue with your uploading.
Name – In this field, you will need to enter the name of the image you are uploading. You can type a name to describe this image or some type of code to let you know what the image is.
Category – In this section, you will need to click the box to open it. Then select the category you want to place this image in.
Image File – In this field, you will need to click the Browse button. In the box that opens, you will need to search your computer for the image you want to upload. Select the image and click the Open button to load it in this field.
Display Order in Image Manager – If you want it displayed in a certain order in the image manager, enter the order number in this field. If it really doesn’t matter, leave this field as it is.
Display This Image? – If you are ready to display the image on your site, tick the Yes field. If you want to wait until later to display this image, tick the No field.
When you are finished with the above fields, you can click the Submit button at the bottom of the box. Your image will then be added to your site. If you chose for it to be displayed, other users will also be able to see it. If you chose not to display it, only you can see it.
