When I worked with Adobe Photoshop for the first time, I wanted to open an existing photo and manipulate it. I figured that this would be a good way to learn the basics of the program. I sat for nearly an hour just trying to figure out how to open a photo. Read on to learn how to open it quickly so you can fiddle around.
Launch the Adobe Photoshop program.
Left click the “File” option located in the upper left corner of your screen.
A drop-down menu will appear. Click “Open.”
A new “Open” window will appear that allows you to browse your computer for the photo. My photo is located on my desktop and will serve as the example for this tutorial.
Click “Desktop,” located on the left side of the “Open” window. Icons representing files on your desktop will appear. Scroll down until you find the desired photo. Left click to select it then click the “Open” button located in the lower right corner of the “Open” window.
Your photo should now appear on your Photoshop workspace. If you would like to resize your photo or zoom in for manipulation, that will be covered in another tutorial.
