Many individuals think that a single dad struggles to maintain an active life style and being a good parent at the same time. That could not be farther from the truth. There are a lot of pluses, when it comes to being a single dad. This article will explain some of the benefits of being a single dad.
Pride in Responsibilities
The last term that any single dad wants to be referred to is a “dead beat dad.” I take a lot of pride in the fact, that I can denounce that term. There is a strong positive affect from following through, on parental obligations. A single dad has to provide child support in many ways, besides just money. They have to discipline, nurture, teach life skills and assist in child development. It gives a dad a good feeling, when he sees that his guidance helps in the development of his child. This builds a strong since of pride.
Fun time with your Child
You can enjoy taking your child to the zoo, museum or fun activities. You can go to places, that your wife didn’t care for. It is easier to bond one on one with your child, doing these activities.
Being single can also give the dad a chance to develop his own life style. The pressure, of providing for a family, is reduced to just himself and his child. He can channel efforts into education and career advancement. The fear of failure is greatly reduced. The less people, you have to worry about supporting, increases your confidence in trying new things.
Meeting New People
Not having a locked in relationship, opens the door to meet new people. This also means a chance at dating others.
Time Constraints are Less
Being single means no more certain times to arrive home. If you want to work over, you can. Granted you still have to be home, to do your father duties. However, you don’t have to worry about meeting expectations, of your wife.
Being a single dad, means savings in areas like clothing, makeup, hair stylists, insurances, added vehicle expenses, food, dental care, Tupperware parties and other person expenses. This money can then be used for your child’s welfare. You can place this extra money aside for college.
Set up your Man Cave
You can set up your home, the way you want it to be. If you have a man cave, you don’t have to feel guilty about using it.
Avoid Belittling the Mother
One thing that a single dad has to do is show respect for the mother of the child. If a mother exists, the dad must make sure that the child knows to respect their mother. At times, this can be challenging. Many times there are hard feelings involved. Still, it is a dad’s responsibility to show and demonstrate respect towards the mother.
