Botox Cosmetic is a prescription medicine that is injected into some of the facial muscles to improve certain facial lines. In other words, it is used for wrinkle therapy. This solution that is injected into specific muscles on the face, help lines which are located between the eyebrows, around the-month and the chin, or on the forehead. Botox Cosmetics has been used safely by ophthalmologists for over 10 years.
Let’s say that you have lines on your forehead, furrows between the eyebrows, frown lines, or creases in the chin, these lines can be improved by these injections.
Are there side effects? you ask. If there are any side effects, they are related to the area where the solution has been injected. For example, there may be a slight discomfort from the needle entering the skin and perhaps a small bruise at the site of the injection. You might compare this discomfort to the injection that a dentist injects on the gums when he is working on a tooth.
Some of the most common areas treated include crow’s feet, frown lines, laugh lines, and forehead wrinkles. The Valley Eye Center, where these treatments can be given, reports that there have been no damage to the eye when injection to the eyelid have been given. There have been no permanent treatment side effects. Botox Cosmetic treatments have recently been awarded approval for cosmetic use by the Food And Drug Administration,.
This type of cosmetic treatment takes only a few minutes, and takes effect in three to four days. Usually, the effects of these treatments will fade after three to five months. When lines appear again, a person can come back again for another treatment.
It is interesting to know that this type of skin treatment has been used in the early 1990’s. There have been no serious side effects. In fact, there has been a report that there have been some individuals who have come in for this type of cosmetic treatment, and later they will be happy to realize that their migraine and chronic headaches have been relieved due to these treatments.
The good part about these treatments is that it takes the place of cosmetic surgery in many ways without a long recovery period. It is also good to know that the procedure can be done on a lunch break and requires no anesthesia.
