Have you ever wanted to do something to contribute to a big cause? If the answer is yes, and you live in the Royal Oak area, then you’re in luck. The national AIDS walk will be starting in downtown Royal Oak on Sept. 19, 2010. So come on out and show your support for those who are being affected by this widespread disease. There will be lots of great activities to participate in before the actual walk begins. So bring your whole family, even your dogs (on a leash, of course) and help out the cause.
If you do decide to participate in this event, be sure to get there in time to register. Registration starts at 9 a.m., followed by the NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt opening at 10:30 a.m., then the AIDS Walk Detroit opening ceremony and awards at 11 a.m. The actual walk begins at 11:30 a.m., so be prepared to wait a couple hours before walking.
AIDS Walk Detroit begins at the Royal Oak Farmers Market located on the corner of 11 Mile Road and Troy Street in downtown Royal Oak, so get out there and have fun.
