When tourists describe Alamo Square, they typically do not refer to it as being boring or ugly. The paint and the way that the Painted Ladies look are due to the careful planning and preparation of the owners. One owner, an artist, said that she was told she paints her house in the bold colors that a hippie would use.
When making their annual Fairmont Hotel Gingerbread display, JW Foster, Fairmont executive chef, and Stephen Sullivan, executive pastry chef, said that they would make their rendition of San Francisco with brighter colors like those in Alamo Square.
You can see their annual display with new Alamo Square touches after November 26th. The Gingerbread display is presented at the Fairmont Hotel lobby.
