It didn’t take long before Alexandria Mills, Miss World 2010, to find herself involved in a scandal. Like many of the scandals involving beauty pageant contestants, the scandal involves nude photos (or, in this case, a single photo). And if the report from Radar Online is factual, she will only have herself to blame. Apparently, Miss World 2010 Alexandria Mills took the picture herself when she was still just Miss America.
Just a few weeks ago, Miss Kentucky Mills became the first American to be crowned MIss World in twenty years. The 18-year-old probably was just as shocked as most of the world when she took the crown and title. It is only the third time in the history of the pageant that Miss America has become Miss World.
But what appeared to be a storybook rise to fame and pageant glory might become just another tarnished beauty pageant tale as details begin to unfold about a nude photo taken over the summer. According to gossip website Radar Online, which claims to have seen and verified the authenticity of the nude photo, the picture of the teen Miss America was taken in a bathroom. The nude photo was originally sent to her boyfriend.
It has not been made clear as yet if the alleged photo was a sext message or if she sent the nude photo as an e-mail attachment.
Mills is a model with Elite Model Management out of Miami. Her biography describes her as a “positive, spontaneous, open-minded and outgoing person.”
Positive and open-minded might not be a problem, but the “spontaneous” part of her personality just might make her a different kind of “outgoing person” than has been described, especially if the Miss World organization finds reason to strip Mills of her 2010 Miss World crown and title over what is certain to be a major scandal.
But Alexandria Mills isn’t the first beauty pageant contestant or queen to be caught up in a nude photo scandal. Miss California 2008 Carrie Prejean famously got caught up in nude photo scandal after losing the Miss USA competition. And it was a nude photo scandal, one involving professionally taken pictures for Penthouse magazine, that saw now famous actress and model Vanessa Williams stripped of her Miss America crown in 1983, an unfortunate occurrence due to Ms. Williams having the honor of being the first ever African American to win the crown.
