Alexandria Mills is smack in the middle of a scandal regarding nude photos she took of herself for a boyfriend earlier this summer before her win of the Miss World 2010 title. 18-year-old Alexandria Mills is the first American to win the coveted title out of 115 global contestants.
However, that’s not the only scandal Alexandria is a part of.
Did China Rig the Miss World 2010 Win?
According to Britain’s Daily Mail, during the Miss World 2010 competition, adamant reports surfaced that Alexandria Mills’ win for the title had everything to do with Beijing officials pressuring Chinese judges to keep Miss Norway, Mariann Birkedal, out of the top five running over a bitter feud China has with the Oslo-based Pulitzer Peace Prize committee for giving the prize to Liu Xiabo, a jailed Chinese dissident.
Is this the newest vengeance between countries – using Miss World and other famous beauty pageants to get back at another in their own scandals?
Nude Scandal Intensifies a Scandal That Existed Before
Alexandria Mills is now at the center of a scandal involving nude photos she took of herself for her only her boyfriend to see. RadarOnline reports the Miss World winner took the pictures in her bathroom and sent them to him. Somehow the nude photos are thought to have gotten in the wrong hands of a third party and made it out publicly.
U.S.A. Glad to See Alexandria Mills Win, but Will She Hold Onto Title?
No word on whether the 18-year-old Alexandria from Kentucky will lose her title, but the scandals behind her win and after don’t help the situation. Just when the U.S. finally saw someone from their country win the Miss World crown, these scandals erupt.
If the favorite Miss Norway was pushed aside for claiming the Miss World title, is Alexandria Mills’ win that much more invalid according to pageant officials? It may appear so, but no decision has been made to strip Alexandria of the title.
As with most scandals which exist in today’s headlines, the one Alexandria Mills is in is far from over.
