Alfia River State Park, located thirty miles southeast of Tampa, Florida is on of the cities closest state parks in the area and provides and oasis of forest in an otherwise desert of city. Conveniently located near the town of Lithia and just a few short miles off of I-75 on CR 39, Alfia River State Park is an easy drive from anywhere in the state of Florida.
Mountain biking is the big thing here at Alfia River State Park. With over 17 miles of trails from beginner to advanced, there is something for every rider to enjoy. AS an old phosphate pit, this are is full of ups and downs, valleys and hills, making this one of the most challenging mountain biking in the state.
This park has it all. Besides the miles of gorgeous mountain biking trails and the beautiful Alfia River, it has all of the amenities of a hotel than of a campground. Super clean restrooms with solar heated water make for a nice shower after hitting the dusty trails. RV’s and tents are welcome at each of the 30 sites-each with running potable water and electricity. Picnic tables and fire rings included all for $22 a night plus tax!
If mountain biking isn’t your thing, miles of equestrian trails and an exclusive equestrian campground with twelve sites that are fully powered and watered. 20/30/50 amp hookups are available for RV’s and horse trailers. Throw in two covered picnic pavilions and a newly built amphitheater and you have the perfect place to horse around.
While it does cost to use this Florida State Park ($5 per vehicle $4 for single occupant) it is a bargain for the price. The mountain bike riding alone is well worth the drive to this south Tampa paradise. Fishing is phenomenal and the camping is superb making Alfia River State Park one of my top Florida State Parks in the state.
