The search continues in downtown Birmingham for an 85-year-old man with Alzheimer’s disease who went missing from the Community House senior citizens’ center. Norris Lee was last seen at 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 3, 2010. The area surrounding the Community House and the entire downtown area of Birmingham has been searched and searched again. As of Sept. 17, 2010 Norris Lee was still missing. Local Birmingham residents are being asked to keep watch for Lee in and around their neighborhoods. Lee is 6 feet, 3 inches tall and weighs 190 lbs. He is balding with thin, white hair and hazel eyes, and was last seen wearing a tan coat and blue slacks.
As Lee suffers from Alzheimer’s disease, searchers are warned that he will likely be confused and unsure of his surroundings. Searchers are advised to speak gently and calmly to Lee. Alzheimer’s patients and many elderly, in general, are easily frightened. Being missing from his regular home and surroundings may cause him to panic.
