With the sound of pounding tribal drums and the ages-old songs of their ancestors in the air, Native Americans from across the Southwest are coming to Houston’s Traders Village for the 21st Annual Texas Championship Pow Wow, November 13th and 14th, 2010.
Dressed in their brightly colored regalia of leather, feathers and beads,the Indians represent tribes from Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and other surrounding states and will dance in competitive events throughout the weekend.
Artists and crafts dealers will display Pow Wow-style merchandise beneath the new GRAY Expo at Traders Village offering paintings and carvings, handmade flutes, clothing, music and more.
Guests will get a taste of traditional Native American fare from Navajo Tacos to Indian Fry Bread.
Dancing begins at noon both days and the dealer area is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Texas Championship Indian Pow Wow will be held rain or shine in and around the 50,000 square foot covered GRAY Expo building at Traders Village. Admission is free and it’s only $3.00 to park.
