When our American military members are injured, not only do they have to cope with their physical injuries, but they and their family members also face huge financial concerns.
The Semper Fi Fund is a nonprofit organization that provides immediate financial support for injured members of U.S. Armed Forces and their families.
Since the fund was established in 2004, more than 23,000 grants have been issued totaling more than $43 million to thousands of our heroes and their families.
As stated on the website: “Clearly, the program is working. But our challenges are actually increasing, especially due to the level of severe trauma sustained in areas like Afghanistan and Iraq. Tax-deductible contributions from people like you make up our lifeblood. Whether your donation is large or small, a one-time gift or ongoing endowment, you have the power to make a real difference, here and now – no matter where in the world you live.”
Assistance from the Semper Fi Fund for injured members of the military is provided in many ways, including: personalized military member and family support; adaptive housing; adaptive transportation; specialized equipment; Team Semper Fi; PTSD support, and therapeutic arts.
There is a moving video clip on this website which takes you to a war zone and lets you view some of the very difficult kinds of conditions that military personnel face. Included on the video are two personal stories of American heroes sharing some details of what happened when they were injured, how they are recovering, and what the assistance from the Semper Fi Fund has meant to them and their family members.
