Now this is the way ‘America’s Got Talent’ needs to be every week with only the best variety acts like it was on Tuesday night. It was none of the constant silliness that goes on with the initial city auditions and trickles on down even till the finals. However, this season they really stepped it up with an outstanding show where all the acts brought their “A” game this time. None of the judges buzzed the acts during their performances.
All of them gave excellent reviews as well. There was one act that made an obvious mistake, but quickly recovered before you realized what happened. Nevertheless, it was still an entertaining show all around. Enrique Iglesias provided the halftime entertainment with his incredible dance club hit “I Like It”, which is one of my favorite songs by Enrique. Only four acts will be chosen during the results show. It’ll be a tough decision as to who goes through. Everyone put their hearts and souls into it.
Very Good, but No Cigar
Studio One Young Beast Society – They were good as always, but it was primarily the same thing they’ve been doing every time.
Christine and Ali – Finally they did an upbeat song that would have been slammed from judges on other shows. Thankfully, this isn’t one of those other shows. Granted, the song wasn’t exactly a current one. It sounded somewhat dated. The little girl truly has a great singing voice while the oldest is very pretty. Despite all this I still enjoy seeing them perform, because they have fun onstage.
Taylor Matthews – Great spin on a very touching song “What a Wonderful World”. He was definitely back to his old self and in his comfort zone.
Anna and Patryk – Now here is one of my favorite acts all season long. When they came down the steps and threw away their masks Anna slipped and fell down, but got back up immediately. At first I thought it was part of the act, because of the discarding of those masks. I absolutely loved the music they danced to. It looked like they were doing the quickstep ballroom dance. As always Anna and Patryk were flawless. The judge’s kept asking if Anna was alright after the fall. She looked like she was about to burst into tears any moment.
Fighting Gravity – If there was one act I felt gave the weakest performance it was this performance art group. Don’t get me wrong they are ready for Vegas and have a superb act. I just felt their tribute to the moon landing was rather disappointing. I’m not sure if they will make it to the Final Four. More than likely they’ll be like Recycled Percussion and get a Vegas act later on while coming back to perform on a results show for Season 6.
The Possible Chosen into the Finale
Jeremy VanSchoonhoven – Every time he’s on his mountain bike I am practically holding my breath. If I thought last week’s performance could not be topped Jeremy managed to do it again. He is absolutely amazing and deserves to be in the Top Four. The judges were raving about his performance as if seeing it for the first time.
Michael Grimm – He’s another one of my favorite acts from the start.I have loved each and every one of his song choices. Tuesday night was no exception when he sang another Al Green hit “Let’s Stay Together”.
Michael Grasso – You never know what he will do for a magic trick. He keeps you guessing all the way through and even afterwards. I liked when Howie kept asking him “how did you do it?”
Prince Poppycock – Wow! Talk bout one of the most flamboyant performers to ever grace the stage on ‘America’s Got Talent”. His colorful costumes, magnificent sets and over-the-top extravagant productions are perfect for a Vegas act. He has all the right stuff for Vegas. I love watching the Prince perform and want to see him next week.
Jackie Evancho – The aria she chose was absolutely mesmerizing. This was my favorite performance by her. Only time will tell if she makes it into the Top Four.
There will be no judge’s choice during the results show. I truly have no idea who is making it through. On the results show the special guests are the cast of the Broadway hit show “American Idiot” based on Green Day’s concept album. Also, the lovely Sarah McLachlan will perform. Next week will be the very last shows of ‘America’s Got Talent’.
