Fall can be a misery,
every now and then.
Days get shorter, ’til the shortest,
then wintertime again.
But still the searing heat is gone
of summer’s languid days;
less time to fuss about the lawn,
more time for fun and games.
The football season’s in full swing.
It’s “Play ball!” one last time,
until the middle of the spring,
when summer games re-start.
And fall’s a time for tricks and treats
and giving thanks one day-
a time to have a splendid feast;
a time to stop and pray.
A time of year to rally,
this season we call fall;
between the heat and bitter cold,
the best one of them all.
