This is a lesson on how to write different kinds of stories. This is also a good practice lesson if a student has to write a composition. The following are examples of the different types of stories that can be originated by the students. You can have your own ideas of what type of a story you would like to write about. You don’t have to follow this one, but it is a good beginning for you to try the following ideas for practice. They are all pretend stories so you will have to use your imagination. Maybe you have had some real life experiences that you can write about and would like to add a little bit of your own “made-up” experiences to it. This is really a fun lesson to do so here are some examples that you can think about. Choose any one of the three ideas to start out. You can then choose another topic when you are ready to do so.
1. Imagined experiences: Think about something that is strange or unusual. For example, you can pretend that you took a trip to Mars or the moon. Maybe you have read about the astronauts who took a trip to the moon. Add your own version to it. What did you see on the moon? If you saw some strange looking people, describe them. If you saw some unusual looking animals, describe how they acted, how they looked, etc. You can really “go to town” on this lesson.
2. Animal or nature stories: Maybe you love animals or perhaps you have a pet. Describe your pet and give it a personality. You can make your pet talk, play, do tricks, play jokes on people. Keep your brains working. If you don’t have a pet, make believe that you do. Have your pet have a conversation with you in your story. This can be funny.
3. Stories of travel: Do you like to travel? Have you read stories about travel? You can describe what you have done on you vacations and make up some additional things that maybe you hadn’t done, but you can add to it by making it funny or exciting. You can make up a story about a place you haven’t visited but, would like to visit. Take a look at a map and see if you can find a country that you would like to visit. This is a good time when you can go to your computer, and get some ideas about different customs and types of food that are eaten in a certain country that you might choose to write about.
This should be a fun lesson and it should be a good time to practice your grammar and punctuation. It might be fun to share it with your teacher and classmates during sharing time or any time that you have some free time.
