Hayes Valley has a lot of green spaces and projects in the neighborhood. There is the Hayes Valley Farm, the Koshland Park Community Learning Garden, and the Growing Home Community Garden Project to name a few. There is also a lot of development and building in the neighborhood. Yet, the Hayes Valley is like other neighborhoods around San Francisco in that computers, printers and sofas are left on the sidewalks.
Dumped computer equipment and electronics causes two problem. First, it certainly does not look good. Second, at this time of year, it rains, and even if the “donor” has good intentions, it is not likely that the equipment will be usable after the rain. Furthermore, in the case of computers, unless the hard drive is take out there is a lot of information left for anyone to take.
