Thanksgiving wouldn’t be the same without pumpkin pie. This recipe, made with apple butter gives a twist on the traditional pumpkin pie recipe.
Apple Butter Pumpkin Pie
1 cup apple butter
1 cup canned pumpkin
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
3/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
3 eggs, slightly beaten
3/4 cup evaporated milk
1 unbaked 9 inch pie shell
whipped cream for garnish
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
Combine the apple butter, pumpkin, sugar, salt and spices in a bowl. Stir in the eggs.
Gradually add the evaporated milk and mix until thoroughly combined.
Place the pie shell on a cookie sheet to prevent spilling in your oven. Pour the mixture into the pie shell.
Bake for about 40 minutes or until set.
Garnish with whipped cream. Makes 1 pie.
