You start out with a few pieces of jewelry when you’re young, but before you know it, you’ve got a huge collection of necklaces, bracelets, bangles and rings. No ordinary jewelry box can hold all of that and who wants a multitude of jewelry boxes to store it all? Organizing jewelry – no matter how much you own – is easy when you start with an artist canvas. You don’t have to be any kind of an artist to turn that canvas into a beautiful wall hanging to hold your jewelry.
If you want, you can frame your own canvas, but craft stores make it so simple. They sell the frames and the canvas and you can simply staple the canvas to the frame. Or, purchase an artist canvas already framed. They’re not too expensive and you can choose the exact size you want. The canvas can be hung on a wall to create the organizer for all your jewelry.
Peel-n-stick picture hooks are perfect for creating the organizer. Align them all in rows, leaving spaces between them, or just randomly stick the hooks all over the canvas. If you have no such hooks you can use a different method. Use screw-in “c” hooks instead. However, the “c” hooks can only be screwed in around the perimeter of the canvas since that’s where the frame is. Another choice for the design of the jewelry holder is to use screw-in hooks around the perimeter and peel-n-stick hooks across the remainder of the canvas.
Before ever adding the hooks to the canvas you have the option of decorating it. You can paint it a solid color or make a different design. This, of course, is optional. You actually don’t have to even start with a brand new canvas to make the jewelry organizer. If you already own a canvas painting, and it really has no value, use it to make the organizer.
Use an ordinary picture hanger to hang the canvas on a wall. Place longer pieces, like necklaces, across the top or down the sides. Hang smaller pieces, like bracelets across the canvas itself. You can even hang rings, ponytail ties, scarves, belts and similar accessories.
Working with a canvas generally conjures images of paints and brushes, but when you work with one, you’ll create an entirely different type of art. Your art piece is actually a jewelry organizer!
