In any given month, Brooklyn has more street fairs and festivals than many cities have in a year. However, certain festivals stand out above the rest. The Atlantic Antic is one of the crowning jewels in the Brooklyn street event crown, the self proclaimed largest street festival in Brooklyn. It takes place September 26th and spans 10 blocks of Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn, going from 4th Avenue to Hicks Street.
Family friendly with rides, music, vendors and, perhaps most importantly, lots and lots of different food, residents won’t want to miss it. Not that it will be easy to miss. Close to a million visitors and residents are expected to make an appearance, along with 600 vendors, artists, chefs and musicians. The entire geography of Atlantic Avenue will be changing for a day, transforming the busy road into a street market of epic proportion.
Atlantic Antic has become a Brooklyn staple, having been a part of Brooklyn’s annual tradition for longer than many residents have even lived here. The tradition will continue this year and hopefully for many years to come and residents, both new and old, should stop by and make an appearance.
