If you’re planning on visiting the interesting place known as Ohio’s Amish Country, then you should consider stopping by one of the many fascinating attractions scattered throughout this region. In this, the concluding part of an ongoing series about these attractions, I describe four more attractions to be found in Ohio’s Amish Country that are definitely worth a visit (or perhaps more than one.)
Amish Home at Yoders
This Amish country attraction is an excellent way to learn about the fascinating way of life practiced by the Amish people. During your trip here, you will be taken on a tour of the two houses on the property, as well as a tour of the farmhouse. There are also a number of other recreational opportunities available at this unique attraction, including a buggy ride (which takes you on a 3/4 mile ride) as well as hayrides. This is the perfect attraction for all members of the family, and is also an excellent stop for school field trips.
Located in the town of Mansfield, Ohio, the BibleWalk immerses you in the world of the New and Old Testaments, as well as the Reformation and other pivotal moments in the history of Christianity. As you walk through this unique attraction, you will come face-to-face with life-size dioramas of the most beloved stories of the Bible. If you’re looking for an attraction that shows you the lives of those who have devoted their lives to God, then you should definitely consider a visit to the BibleWalk, located just a short distance from the heart of Ohio’s Amish country.
Hershberger’s Bakery and Farm
This unique little shop, located just a short distance from the town of Berlin, Ohio, offers a variety of fresh produce,4 flowers, baked goods ,and other Amish products straight from the farm. During the summer months, there is also a food stand serving delicious meals. The true hallmark of the attraction, however, is the petting zoo, which is home to a number of fascinating animals, including Big Ben, the largest Belgian horse in Holmes County, and a zedonk (a cross between a zebra and a donkey.) While you’re there, be sure to take advantage of one of the carriage rides as well.
Wally Road State Scenic Byway
If a scenic drive is more to your liking, then be sure to take a trip along the Wally Road Scenic Byway, which takes you along the Mohican River through three counties in Ohio. Along the way, you can partake in a number of recreational opportunities, including kayaking, swimming, camping, and much more. This is a great way to spend time in the outdoors; what’s more, you’ll be in the heart of Ohio’s Amish Country, so numerous other attractions are within easy distance.
Whatever you want to do, whether it be adventuring in the great outdoors or immersing yourself in the world of the Amish, you’re sure to find it in Ohio’s Amish Country. There’s enough things to do here for any member of the family.
