Host Sarah Murdoch appeared mortified as she realized she had just announced the wrong winner in Australia’s Next Top Model Contest. After claiming 19-year-old Kelsey Martinovich as the winner of Top Model, Murdoch nearly turned as white as a ghost and looked as if her body had turned to rubber.
Thus, Murdoch began the admission: “Oh my God, I don’t know what to say right now,” she began.
The audience was stunned into silence wondering what in the world Murdoch was talking about.
“I’m feeling a bit sick about this. I’m so sorry about this, oh my God. I don’t know what to say. This is a complete accident, I’m so sorry. It’s Amanda… it was read to me wrong.”
“This is what happens when you have live TV folks, I’m so sorry, this is insane.”

It turns out that the real winner was Amanda Ware. The real loser was perhaps the staff person who read the wrong name into Sarah’s earpiece.
There was another winner as well, after all. After displaying such graciousness and understanding after the major blunder, Kelsey was rewarded with $25,000.
Amanda Ware won $20,000 cash, a model contract, a campaign worth $25,000 with Levi’s, a car, a trip to New York, and finally, an eight-page spread in Harper’s Bazaar.
