The sun breaks through the dark clouds and
then sets with bright colors
A plant begins to grow
A new baby is born
The stars light up the night sky
Two people forgive each other
A father escorts his daughter down the isle
A funeral is held for a loved one
Somewhere, a child graduates
News of a wonderful opportunity
Lovers find new
life and compassion
Children play and laugh
I am thankful for the
many wonders of the world
What does this poem mean to you?
There are many wonders in our world. The ones I have mentioned in the poem are major; to me .They make us aware of the spiritual wisdom of beginnings and endings. But what about the simple, everyday wonders we might over look? The wonder of waking up each morning; the wonder of the sun coming up, or the birds singing. Each one of us experience different things bringing wonder into our lives. It may have to do with the people with whom we live, or it could be the playfulness of our pets. Any number of things can cause us to feel a sense of wonder.
Everyone has some gift, unique to them. Our eyes are truly a wonder. Being able to see is a great gift. How often do we remember that? If you are like me, not very often. What about our hands, and our ability to use our fingers? Consider meditating on your hands, and be mindful of different body parts, and the value of each part. Our legs are so important! Think about your ears, you mouth, even your taste buds. Think of each part of your body. What a wonderful body we have.
Nature, too, has many wonders. Today, why don’t you make an extra effort to think about nature which surrounds you, and how even the simplest little flower is a gift. For today, notice the trees and all the wonders of our Creator. For today, live a life that is grateful and experience the wonder of all these blessings.
Oh, the wonders I saw today;
things I had passed without ever noticing before!
I found myself feeling grateful and less
consumed by things I don’t have.
From the simple movement of my fingers
to the full moon at night . . .
What a wonderful world we live in!
