There can be many trying times when you are in a band while performing on stage, and sometimes things do not go according to plan.
According to Seattle PI, Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose angered fans in Dublin after showing up to a concert nearly an hour late. The late arrival by Rose caused some in the crowd to hurl water bottles at the stage, making it hard for the band to perform. Guns N’ Roses left the show early after warning the crowd to stop throwing bottles or the band would not perform and they would go home. After Rose and the rest of the band left, the crowd was told to go home; members of the audience are now demanding their money back.
The incident with Rose is comparable to a similar incident that happened to Kanye West in 2008. According to AZ Central, West’s performance at Bonnaroo was almost two hours late, which angered the crowd severely. The crowd began shouting “Kanye sucks” and began throwing glow sticks at the stage. West was delayed almost two hours because of the problems setting up his stage set. The stage set was very detailed and consisted of such items as a wavy black platform that took a while to set up properly. The thing that made the incident worse was that the Bonnaroo festival included late-night performances from people such as West. The late-night shows made the crowd angry and tired by the time West went on stage, with some leaving before the performance. West has since moved on from the incident and is still performing sold-out shows across the world.
I do not think Rose and his bandmates will be affected by the Dublin incident, based on the West incident. The incident with Rose is something that has occurred before during a Guns N’ Roses performance, so it should be nothing new. Rose is notorious for being late to shows, and it has caused a lot of arguments within the band in the past. Rose is someone who is always the last person to arrive, but gives his all when he does.
Everyone who goes to a concert knows there is always a chance that something bad will happen or that the band might be late. When you go to a Guns N’ Roses concert, you should just be happy that Rose shows up at all. Given how West did after he angered the crowd a Bonnaroo, I think Rose and the band will be just fine. People are still going to buy their merchandise and pay to see them in concert. When you like a band such as Guns N’ Roses, you know that tardiness is just something that comes with the territory. Rose has always been someone to anger a crowd and become hostile, which is just his personality. I think Guns N’ Roses will not suffer any negative effects from this incident and they will go on to perform as if nothing ever happened.
